County Fair
We went to the County Fair! I don't even remember when it was, but it's been sitting as a draft post forever. I think this was the start of our whirlwind events. Derek's dad came into town and instead of just sitting in the house we decided to go out and be part of the world!
I do love Fairs. I love to walk around and see all the different booths, watching all the people and just being there.
Who doesn't love seeing all the different colors and textures of the world?
Like this guy above? He's amazing. He was also extremely large.
People watching.
Cow watching. (Did you even check the guy to the right?)
Seeing deadly sharks. Like the Nurse sharks. Which, I don't think they even have teeth. They were the MAIN attraction and highlight.
Of course, we had to go see the rodeo.
This baby girl loves her horses. She would just stare at all the cowgirls.

I really though Aiko would love the petting zoo.
Nope, we had to force her to touch any animal.
The goat butts were pretty adorable.
Did you know that a Cebu was a real animal? Here the husband and I thought that it was a figment of Larry the Cucumber's imagination. How wrong we were. See it here.
My favorite animal in the world? Besides the rugged man you see before you, is the lovely donkey. I'm still obsessed. See them here.
Hopefully Aiko and Orion will enjoy the petting zoo a little more next year!

Somewhere between Iowa and Utah
On our way back from Iowa, we brought up an old iPhone app we hadn't used in years.
It's nifty little thing that shows you all the different, weird attractions around. We used it all during our trip to Wisconsin (here, here, here, here and here,) It made the trip so much more memorable and fun! (we also used it on our Portland trip, which I'll post about later.)
I don't even know which state we were in on our way back, but I saw this while driving and promptly pulled over. I'm glad my husband is used to this kind of thing. We're a go-with-the-flow kind of family, except for when we are not.
What I thought was going to be a giant Jesus statue was in fact a Virgin Mary statue! This town was TINY. I don't think you could even call it a town, but their statues were amazing.
Can you feel how ginormous this was?
I loved all the pictures we took. The sky was amazing and the lighting seemed heavenly.
Around the Virgin Mary was a circle of different statues, each with a little plaque.
While it was an odd place for these, I was glad for the message.
God lives and he died for us, because he loved us.

Roadside America // Pyramid of the Plains //
Another little thing we found on Roadside America was a not so small pyramid. I mean it was big. The pyramid is a couple miles off I-80 between Laramie and Cheyenne.
Is that me? Nope, that's my little sister, who looks alarmingly like me from the side and back.
It was also breathtakingly beautiful.
The mountains were dreamy.
The clouds and sky reminded me of the Simpson's opening scene.
I MEAN LOOK AT THIS! I still can't get over how amazing it was.
It's good to stop once in a while and take it all in.
Random Bed and Breakfast anyone? (It was not nearly as pretty as it's surroundings.)
