The Husband's Birthday.

I feel that birthdays are meant to be more bragging about the person days.  No, I'm not going to be too sappy, I'm just going to write some awesome facts about my ever so awesome husband. So here we go.

The husband is an excellent dad and husband.  He is incredibly selfless.  He always puts everyone else first.  He can work in almost any condition with a variety of distractions, such as my pregnant self, his favorite little baby and his dog.

He loves his "floor" time.  If you know him well enough, you know if there is carpet somewhere, he's usually laying on it.  I feel this comes from his childhood.  He grew up with a swamp cooler, which was the coolest in the hallways under the cooler.  Now, he loves it because his favorite dog and child spend most of their time there as well.  Recently, Aiko has been into wrestling and headbutting him.  She loves hanging out with her dad.  These last few weeks have been "dadddddddd" weeks.  She hears the door open and rushes to go meet him.  She just adores him. As does his Kona.  As you can see, once again, he places himself just for the kona's benefit.

I think, well, more know, that the husband has a very calming effect on most everyone.  He definitely brings more peace when he enters the room.  Dogs just love him, his nieces and nephews love him, people seem to just be drawn to my introverted husband.  He's not one to react quickly.  Always calm.  My family has yet to hear him "yell."

Oh, how that baby loves her dad.

I think we'll keep him for a while more.

I can't remember when this happened

One day it hailed in the morning...then turned into a beautiful day.  Nice enough to get this pale programmer husband out in the sun, but only if the Kona came too.

Backyard

there are some rare days that the husband will come outside with me.  i bought him a hammock (double of course) for father's day, to try and lure him outside more.  because, you see, it can't be too hot, otherwise he just melts into a puddle.

he liked the hammock, other than it wasn't quite hammock like, more like an upside down "a" when we sat in it, but we had to try it out!

oh, the kona says "hey"

get ready for mass amounts of photos.

i love these old photo booths, so i pay whatever obscene amount of money for them.  (plus, the husband doesn't believe in printing photos ... dang technology.)

so, this dog is apparently this cheetah's friend. best friend.

this little kid was SUPER excited to see this hippo, as was i.  i happened to be on the hippo first and the kid tried to photobomb my kodak moment. luckily, his parents were like "get out of her photo!!"

here i am alone, with the hippo. but by this time, i just felt awkward that my 27 year old self (although i may look 15) just got a kid in trouble for wanting to play on the hippo.

my husband has a thing for reptiles. not my favorite by any means.

oh and what's this? well, you see, my husband doesn't pay attention to others really.  hannah took this picture and she has an extremely large lens, so he really is much further that it seems.  sometimes, i like to just stop and wait, until the husband remembers his little family.  which, he's usually super far away at this point.

these guys were the highlight of the whole zoo to me!  some of them were brought into the zoo in 1928 and are still alive!  my grandparents probably saw them back them too.  i found this fascinating for some reason.

i've been prepping the little raptor for this trip.  everyday, we try to go on a "stroll."  we have to say "stroll" because otherwise the kona gets too excited about it.  so she just sat in her stroller like a champ.  she slept a lot of the time in it too. guys, i'm starting to feel like a real live parent.

this guy seems so uncomfortable.  he was just balancing on his nose and his horn.

i'll admit, sometimes the zoo makes me super sad.  i mean, yes, i know it's to help preserve the species, etc.  but STILL.  sigh.

we appropiately brought the baby's bear suit and bear hat.  i wanted her to feel like she belonged.

this rare beast can be seen in utah.  looking so sad. wondering where her family went.

they have pandas! he was kind of boring.  he was munching on bamboo

these are a beloved tradition of hali.

so of course. we bought one for her penny collection.

this was only half a day of fun....more to come.

thanks to the han for taking most of the pictures.

baby cheeks

something intense was happening here...sad to say, but her cheeks are smaller now...

i've been told many a times that she looks nothing like me, auntie hannah always calls here "miss-i-look-like-my-dad" all the time.

she sits up so high sometimes.  she's only rolled over three times that i know of.  who knew that babies could arch their backs into "u" shapes

for my birthday precious

notice the time in the middle.

3 freaking AM ?!  are you kidding me?  what is he doing at that time?  playing a computer GAME!

notice how his response was something to make it seem okay.  i told him he was on duty IF that baby woke up (which she doesn't, but she's going through a growth spurt so who knows what her little body wants) so apparently, since she never woke up, he didn't have to go to bed.

so help me, i love my nerd, but really. to top off his nerdliness he responds

"It's my birthday precious"

yes, we are that nerdy together.

so here we are later this morning, now around 10 AM.  he's out cold, the baby is squirming.

and he'll be out for a while. because after all, it is his birthday precious.

happy birthday lovey.
