Anniversary

It was our anniversary the other week.  Our ninth anniversary.  Boy, things sure have changed.  Instead of doing romantic getaways we are enjoying the free entertainment of dead stuffed animals.  It also included and blow out from little brother in the parking lot that resulted in a team effort to clean child and car seat of orange poop all before the downpour of rain came crashing down on us.

Don't get me wrong, I do love every minute of it.  It's just so different than a few years ago.

9 years of us.

The only time I feel it's appropriate for me to get sappy is in August.  Why?

Well, it's been 9 years of marital bliss my friends.  There were many "firsts" since our last Anniversary and I feel they are worth blogging about once again.  Here are a few of my favorite.

Had our little Orion.

Went camping as a family for the first time EVER.  First time we let Aiko sleep in the same bed with us since she was a wee babe.  Won't be repeating that.

Got our first misdemeanors as a family.

Aiko became a big sister.

Little Brother rolling all over.

Aiko rode a horse and hated every minute of it.

Little Brother smiling and laughing.

Having two kids!

Going to parades as a family because that's what families do.

Becoming a "gun family."

Becoming a family of five!  (including the Kona of course.)

So my love, here's to us and many more happy memories to come.  Love you Boy.

i'm just going to brag what we've done since we've been married.

mainly, because, the husband would probably fall over dead if i wrote a lengthy proclamation of love to him. which i'd probably never do. 8 years of greatness friends.
  • we do share a love for music. his more current, while mine is 80's and earlier.  (foreigner concert)
  • we had one #ohniceandchubbybaby
  • we have one the kona
  • we've lived in both parents basements (while owning a home...winners here.)
  • i've been through 1 wedding ring that the husband insured (smart man), while the husband actually has two by accident.
  • we are both super cheap (much to the chagrin of both dads)
  • together we've been to japan, hawaii, wisconsin, washington, iowa, mexico, disneyland (totally counts as a place) nevada, yellowstone, canada, idaho, montana, south dakota, nebraska, colorado, arizona, new mexico, michigan.

  • in college i made $11.00 an hour (breadwinner) while he made $8.15 and somehow he qualified for the house alone (the day before we got married.)
  • we've owned 3 homes, 2 of which we still have. (dang rental)
  • we remodeled 2 of the homes.
  • we both love playing indoor soccer
  • we've owned 4 vehicles.  larry the landcruiser, the fj, the truck and jezebel the celica.
  • we usually go camping for our anniversary or on a small trip somewhere, so we don't really do the gift thing.  see here, here, here
(guess i need to be better about blogging about them)
  • we've been janitors together.  while it was fun, i hated it.
  • we've had 1 fight.  the definition of a fight, he's sleeping in the other room. (i won)
  • we both love to thrift shop (in fact the husband introduced me)
  • we were the best man and maid of honor for our friends wedding (before marriage)
  • we can quote almost any disney, lotr (welcome fellow nerds) or harry potter movie line and know instantly what's being quoted.
  • we both love hiking. here, here, here, here, here, oh, and here
  • we graduated together. twice in fact.  i was one of two girls in my construction program, all the guys always told me to marry older.  so i did, luckily, the husband was done with his MBA the same time i was with my bachelors.  when he was getting his bachelors i decided to graduate with an associates (i don't even remember what it was called)
  • both our birthdays are in march.
  • we love to sled
  • neither of us can remember how long (or short we dated) or when we actually got engaged.
  • we've been to the emergency room, too many times, before and after being married.  always because of me.  always.
  • we are so opposite it's crazy we've made it this long.
i'm fairly please with this list, mainly, because it does show that we actually do have stuff in common.  people ask us all the time and i can't usually think of anything except maybe hiking.  but that's why we get married right?

7 years of marriage

finally got a husband wife shot, but then we couldn't leave kona out. . .
kona wanted a kiss too
(don't worry, we washed her good to get all the moose poop out)

sitting around the campfire (that may or may not have been banned, we still aren't sure) you have a lot of time to talk.  so of course we talked about baby names (always an epic failure), fixing up the future house, parenting skills we are lacking, why did kona have to chase off the moose. . . ya know, deep conversation stuff. sometimes there are long lulls in the conversation, but we're okay with that.

the husband all of a sudden says
"the next 20 years are going to be ridiculous."

it's so true.
with babe(s) coming, moving, fixing up the new old house, trying to balance home life with mama life, living on one income, we have LOTS of big changes coming our way.  but it's good, we're excited for the new life.  life has been fun with just three of us for the last seven years, but we've always felt somewhat stagnant, like we were missing something more . . . so here's to our little family, that hopefully will be come 5 soon!

happy 7 years love, i'm excited for the rest!

lego nazi's are real in campers

even though the bunting says "husband and wife" that usually means the husband and the kona

sometimes, husbands get tired of pictures.

camping naps are good for tired husbands and dogs

bunting is possible while camping
(finish product coming soon)

fact: my husband is a lego nazi

things you didn't know about lego nazis
1. you need to offset all bricks when making a house, otherwise you have failed structure wise
2. bricks need to be all the same color
3. if you have to make a mutli-colored roof and HAVE to use a smile face yellow lego, it's a sad, sad day.
4.  you are not allowed to bite the legos to take apart, it causes teeth marks and that's a big no-no.

its a good thing we weren't lego friends as kids

campers delight

tinfoil dinners need to happen more often
hiking may or may not be much harder when 30 weeks pregnant
turn off vehicle lights while fishing
jumper cables would be nice if vehicle is dead because of lights
pretty sure rv's are meant to go over 20 mph
tree coverage is important while doing business
don't squeeze the fish too tight, but if you do, sometimes they live
i really do have a thing for dead trees
