lions and tigers and bears!

i'm off to girls camp.
it feels like it's been forever away and finally here.
first time without that baby...ever.  she's in good hands.

as you may notice, our theme this years is B.E.A.R.S.  (i'm not even sure what it stands for but i'm running with it.)  i found this bear photo while on pinterest (of course) here and it was free!  it's stake camp, so i basically got to plan the fun stuff, while the stake did everything else!

i love how our dreamcatchers came out...each one is different and unique.

i remember getting a camp tripod chair, which i still use, so i thought i'd continue the tradition for the girls.

hopefully,  the girls will humor me and wear these.

when they said the theme was bears.  they didn't know how i would explode with it.  everywhere.

wish me luck!

cinco de mayo, asian style

sometimes, i get these crazy ideas, then...it turns into lots of work. sometimes some spousal spats happen, but that's okay.  because see these colors?  these are HAPPY colors.

cinco de mayo!  i feel as though we can celebrate this.  it's happened often enough that people think my siblings and i are spanish...so why not celebrate our adopted heritage?  see previous post here, and here

i think my husband is sulking.  see, i wanted to use all of my ceramic dishes, he wanted to use paper plates.  i wanted things to be festive.  because my plates are also HAPPY colors.

see who won.

he eventually got over it when all this delicious food came out.

it's like they were posing or something for me.

i places out all these rugs to be even more festive, but then all these "white" people thought it would be too much sun. point for the husband. (i assure you, i use the word "white" people with the most love.  it's a continuous battle in our house, whites vs asians) i just noticed though...poor uncle scott, that the uncles heads are in the sun.

our deck needs to be refinished...but that sounds like way too much work for now.  for now, i will endure getting slivers.   no, we aren't nazi supports.  this rug happens to be one of derek's great grandpa's who worked with the native americans.  apparently the swastika symbol was used in their rug designs way before hitler.

like my "china"

i used an entire pack of paper to make these bad boys.

as my trash can shows, there was much cutting. oh and mucho staples.  i learned this nifty trick from my teach-in-laws.  staple papers together so you can cut multiple layers at once!  then they don't get all skiwampis.
muy bueno.

now that my large pile is complete...i will have decorations for years to come!

7 years of marriage

finally got a husband wife shot, but then we couldn't leave kona out. . .
kona wanted a kiss too
(don't worry, we washed her good to get all the moose poop out)

sitting around the campfire (that may or may not have been banned, we still aren't sure) you have a lot of time to talk.  so of course we talked about baby names (always an epic failure), fixing up the future house, parenting skills we are lacking, why did kona have to chase off the moose. . . ya know, deep conversation stuff. sometimes there are long lulls in the conversation, but we're okay with that.

the husband all of a sudden says
"the next 20 years are going to be ridiculous."

it's so true.
with babe(s) coming, moving, fixing up the new old house, trying to balance home life with mama life, living on one income, we have LOTS of big changes coming our way.  but it's good, we're excited for the new life.  life has been fun with just three of us for the last seven years, but we've always felt somewhat stagnant, like we were missing something more . . . so here's to our little family, that hopefully will be come 5 soon!

happy 7 years love, i'm excited for the rest!

lego nazi's are real in campers

even though the bunting says "husband and wife" that usually means the husband and the kona

sometimes, husbands get tired of pictures.

camping naps are good for tired husbands and dogs

bunting is possible while camping
(finish product coming soon)

fact: my husband is a lego nazi

things you didn't know about lego nazis
1. you need to offset all bricks when making a house, otherwise you have failed structure wise
2. bricks need to be all the same color
3. if you have to make a mutli-colored roof and HAVE to use a smile face yellow lego, it's a sad, sad day.
4.  you are not allowed to bite the legos to take apart, it causes teeth marks and that's a big no-no.

its a good thing we weren't lego friends as kids

LOVE

Harmony here.

Just wanted to show you my latest creation.

I got bored one Sunday. . . and apparently, this is called Bunting.  I found some felt, cut out some felt letters, got my trusty yarn and needle and went to work.
A couple hours later I had this....just in time for Valentine's Day!

I really liked it.
