That day we sacraficed a new lego for the sake of little brother.

Last Black Friday, the only purchase I made was these legos and duplos.  Which, we recently broke out because we needed to sacrifice a few of them for this swaddler blanket.

Then, the husband got home and we all sat down to play Legos.

I'm glad to say that my lego skills have not depleted through adulthood.  As a child/teenager I used to make houses and all sorts of stuff out of legos while watching Pokemon or Batman or maybe Spiderman.  Ya know, the cool shows one watches after coming home from a hard day of high school.

The husband and his brother have a ton of a legos, enough to make me jealous.  They would get a big set every year for Christmas...so they have quite the collection.  Mine on the other hand...was a small bucket that had a lego vacuum that NEVER worked on carpet.  Yet, I always used that little vacuum.

(Created out of the mind of the husband.)

You'll notice the two OCD people on the far end of the table.  Baby girl and I kept to the other end, where we couldn't get in trouble with the "Lego Nazi." (see previous blogs) aka the husband.  He's particular about his legos.  Auntie Hannah almost died by his hand.  She got two legos stuck together, you know, those stupid little ones that one would naturally use their teeth to pull apart.  Well, one does not just use their teeth.  The Lego Nazi probably would have lost 5 years off his life watching her use her canines.

Aiko and I tried out the Duplos, she loves to have you make something so she can destroy it.  I am distraught about some of the crazy colors.  Pink ones?  Flowers?  Weird people...

Naturally, while one plays with Duplos, we pull back ones mullet hair into a pony tail.  Amazing right?!

(Soon to be a famous lego piece done by Hannah.)

For as expensive as these bad boys I'm glad I found them!  I'm sure with little brother they'll be a big hit...in like 3 years.

DIY Swaddler Lego Blanket

These last few weeks I've been either insanely productive, or insanely lazy and tired.  It's been crazy weather, which, I attribute to my pregnant self.  This last week, my sister Hannah and I got crafty.  I'm super picky about everything apparently, which is even worse when it comes to my kids style.  I feel that everything should be unique which usually means should be handmade.  Hence, we decided to make our own swaddling cloths for the little man.  Which, it takes me forever to try and research something that is quirky enough for me.  Luckily, I'm super good at copying people's Pinterest ideas, but I apply them other ways.

At Joann's, you can buy muslin for $5.99 per yard.  Combine that with your 40% coupon and you have an awesome blanket.  We had to break into our brand new lego box that I got on Black Friday.  Take some Fabric Paint, dip your legos and stamp.  It was that easy and that awesome looking.  You do have to sew the raw edges...but that's what you have moms for right?  (Because, this mama, DOESN'T/CAN'T SEW)

I have what you would call a "Lego Nazi Husband."  (click to read previous posts) He has some serious rules about the usage of legos and I'm afraid I had to ruin some for little brother.  I really was concerned...but there was nothing I could do about it in the end. The fabric paint sticks too well and little Legos have little places that paint crawls in to.

But really, isn't it awesome looking?  Be careful when stamping to have something under it, as the paint soaks through the cloth.

'

Here's one last shot with the 36 week belly.
Idea stemmed from this

A few notes about stamping with Legos.
1.  Who will probably not want to clean the legos afters.  The fabric paint does not come off easily.
2. Make sure to place something under the cloth while stamping so it does not soak through.
3. I took two pieces of cardboard and squirted the paint on one side.  Then, I rubbed them together so it was flatten the paint and therefore make it easier to get an even stamp.
4. I really don't sew well, even on easy projects, but take the edges of the blanket and roll once under and then sew.  See, it sounds easy, but I never find it is.  Hence, why I have my mom do it.
5.  I was able to use each stamp about 3 times before it was too light to see on the fabric.
6.  You'll have to clean on the lego (as best you can) when you start getting fuzzy lines.  You'll know when this happens.  I found it was easiest to scrape off with a tough piece of cardboard.

the art of brick amongst other mediums

went to see "the art of brick" in park city.  it was pretty dang cool.  these crayons were about four feet tall

i imagine this is what the husband's body does when someone uses the wrong etiquette for legos.

remember the lego nazi or the husband?
see his rules for becoming a lego nazi here

there was also an embroidery on canvas exhibit.  which i loved.

also this strange print exhibit in the basement...next to the toilets.  i'm not sure we exactly appreciated it.

for some reason, when you take a picture of legos...they appear much more pixalated than they really were.

go and see it!
because it's free!

also, if anyone is interested in going to the salt lake library, apparently, they have an exhibit there as well...takers?

7 years of marriage

finally got a husband wife shot, but then we couldn't leave kona out. . .
kona wanted a kiss too
(don't worry, we washed her good to get all the moose poop out)

sitting around the campfire (that may or may not have been banned, we still aren't sure) you have a lot of time to talk.  so of course we talked about baby names (always an epic failure), fixing up the future house, parenting skills we are lacking, why did kona have to chase off the moose. . . ya know, deep conversation stuff. sometimes there are long lulls in the conversation, but we're okay with that.

the husband all of a sudden says
"the next 20 years are going to be ridiculous."

it's so true.
with babe(s) coming, moving, fixing up the new old house, trying to balance home life with mama life, living on one income, we have LOTS of big changes coming our way.  but it's good, we're excited for the new life.  life has been fun with just three of us for the last seven years, but we've always felt somewhat stagnant, like we were missing something more . . . so here's to our little family, that hopefully will be come 5 soon!

happy 7 years love, i'm excited for the rest!

lego nazi's are real in campers

even though the bunting says "husband and wife" that usually means the husband and the kona

sometimes, husbands get tired of pictures.

camping naps are good for tired husbands and dogs

bunting is possible while camping
(finish product coming soon)

fact: my husband is a lego nazi

things you didn't know about lego nazis
1. you need to offset all bricks when making a house, otherwise you have failed structure wise
2. bricks need to be all the same color
3. if you have to make a mutli-colored roof and HAVE to use a smile face yellow lego, it's a sad, sad day.
4.  you are not allowed to bite the legos to take apart, it causes teeth marks and that's a big no-no.

its a good thing we weren't lego friends as kids

Highlighted points of Disneyland.

So many Strollers!!  It's an event in itself.
Disneyland is so efficient.  Stroller parking organization is a must.

Steamboat ride.

We went onto the Pirates Lair...which for some reason, I've never been on.
Found the loot!  This may be my favorites thing EVER.
They have a giant ant hill that has a bunch of tunnels and secret passage ways.
Yeah....we all went through for like an hour.

The mama, always a trooper.
Here's to Winnie the Pooh ride!

I've never understood why Star Wars is on the Disneyland premises, but, I do think this shirt fits me.

Every time we get on Autopia, it gets stuck...and we end up walking out of the ride, instead of rolling in.  I'm afraid, this is a thumbs down for me.

California Screamin!  We have some awesome pics of us screaming!

I don't understand this ride...you end up in hell in the end...right?

Riding the trams

Always fun.

Not riding the trams.
Not so fun.

Hippie Lego Van in Downtown Disney.
I need this.
It. even. has. a table. with. curtains.
curtains.

isn't this picture crazy?
totally looks like Woody is a little pixelated.

Derek's awesome super green jolly jacket.
Which, was such a life saver.
See, the husband walks super fast, and his wife has to take 1.5 steps for every one of his.
Makes her tired. If I do not have his hand in mind, then he's gone.
I usually wait until he noticed that he's once again, ditched me.
Which is about a mile later.
At least, this time, i had my mom, who's legs are about the same.

Did you know you could purchase any color by the pound?
Amazing.

Don't worry, it wouldn't be a great night without a possessed Harmony Photo.
