Make your own Halloween Art Cheaply II and Locally

When I'm feeling crafty, I usually have to get it done in that day, or I never get it done.  It's kind of sad how many project I start, but usually get bored and really want to start a new craft.  So, learning for my mass of not finished projects, I've learned that I must be able to get them done, start to finish in less than an hour or I have to see some extreme progress.  I've blogged about Edible Wasatch before here.  But I love the magazine.  I love reading about locals and then they always have some pretty unique prints as well.

 

This year I found their skeletons dancing quite hilarious.  Then dapper dead here was just calling to me.  I felt it needed to be included with my small Halloween decor.  I'm not usually into skeletons, but I really liked these guys below.

I ran to the thrift store, bought some super cheap frames and placed the bones inside.  I was quite please with myself.  Start, Finished and I even packed away my Halloween stuff already.  Feeling organized people.

Oh, and because it's tradition, I made our annual supply of roasted pumpkin seeds.  Which I've found quite addicting.

 

Do you like my nail art?  I've found that I really enjoy bigger, wood and nail kind of crafts...which seems fitting with my school background. I was going to make a spiderweb one...but that one sits yet unfinished in the basement.  

No Tricks

I love Halloween.  Mainly, for the pumpkins.  I find they make me extremely happy. 

If I could afford hundreds of pumpkins to line my driveway I would, but then I would need hundreds of hours or some Halloween slaves to at least clean out the pumpkins for me.

I also love costumes, or maybe the anticipation of costumes...thinking of that next brilliant costume. 

Mainly at this babies expense.  I already have her costume for next year in mind.  It will be amazing.

 

The Husband's work has a spook alley, which, they give each department $100 to decorate.   Some went all out, some (like my husband's department) didn't do anything.  Nonetheless, I'm very impressed.

i feel the need to say. . .

i may need this teenage mutant ninja turtle bookbag. 

i'm just saying.  

some of you may not know this, but i really like the store hot topic.  i enjoy the "variety of crazy." this is where i usually purchase lingerie as bridal gifts and now my sisters have kept the tradition alive.  i've even (for some reason) taken my parents to this store. . . .which reminds me of a particularly funny occasion.

I was on the search for some black leather like leggings (again, I'm not sure why I brought my parents in) for my halloween costume, also to double for my rockstar outfit

 acid like screaming music playing in the background, the cashiers in their all black, tattooed (awesome), gauged ears, spikes and crazy outfits (AWESOME)

while i'm happy as can be, i'm a little concerned about my parents following me into this store.  my mom, a short japanese lady, who shops at Christopher banks (aka the teacher store) innocent as they come. 

my dad goes straight up to the cashier and starts commenting on the "music." the cashier, thinking my dad is complaining about the music, turns it down, to which my dad replies something along the lines of "no, don't worry about it, back in the 70s i listened to this stuff..it was great..." the cashier drops his jaw and i'm sure is blown away by this man who wears double starched shirts, khakis, sweater vests and is as clean as they come. (note. i forget that my dad is a huge music buff, has tons of records, and has a bigger music collection than all my siblings combined. he loves almost all music, except for celion dion.)

in the end, it wasn't bad, i got my pants and as a bonus the cashier was able to catch up on music theory.

A little more Halloween

Jan was teaching me how to be a man.

He's just 9 months and he weighs more than Kona,

while Kona is twice as wide as he is.

I was trying to fix the weird flash in their eyes.

Busy Bodies

It seems like forever since I really sat down and wrote a blog.  We've been super busy!  My little Etsy shop is getting busier (hooray!)  

Halloween came and went, with me being solo. 

Derek got "sick" the night of our Halloween party (he really did.)  The Queen of hearts and Michelle (she's the we can do it lady! Can't actually remember what she is called) and I were the single ladies of the night!  Derek and I were going to go as a Mail Order Bride and the Nerd that bought one. . . 

So instead I decided to dress up as the Nerd and a male.

So much more comfy!

I got to be in both photos...since I was a male as well.
