Pumpkin and Pandas

I really do love Ogden.  There is always something to see, do, eat.  It's just an amazing city.  For instance, this Pumpkin Quinoa dish from A Good Life Cafe was delish.  Sometimes it' hard to find a decent meal that doesn't have loads of dairy in it.  But this, this was amazing.  Aiko loved it too.

Which, this girl can pound it in, I'm going to have to start buying her, her own meals, because she eats most of mine and I'm left hungry.  (Don't cross a mama who is nursing, especially when it comes to her food.)

The is the back entrance to the cafe.  Isn't it dreamy?

Plus, my friends theater is just a few doors down.  If you guys haven't been to 25th street in Ogden, ya gotta go.  I've been loads of times and always find something new!

Jokes, Yarn Bombs and some Art.

Another weekend down on 25th street.  It's crazy how many things they have going on just down on that small street.  We passed by these guys, who were telling jokes.  I'm not sure about what, but I thought they were quite the crew.  My dad got me a new lens for my camera and I was trying my best to look like I knew what I was doing. (Thanks Dad!)

You may know this, you may not, but I love yarn.  I love crocheting, I wish I knew how to knit.  I have a whole section of my craft room bursting with yarn everywhere.  I've always got some yarn or pattern sitting around the house.  Crochet hooks are everywhere.  I love yarn.  So imagine my excitement to see some yarn bombing going on!  Who cares if it wasn't super pretty sometimes, it's just so much color...EVERYWHERE!

I realize this is a very awkward photo, I'm not sure what I was doing, but it's yarn.

See his socks?

Every year they have this Arts Festival for raising funds for the Union Station.  Artists come from all over and there are all sorts of different styles.

One of the booths we found was a 3d printer.   The concept still blows my mind so I was super excited to see it in real life.  This is something from Star Trek or something.  Apparently, you take whatever material and design and this machine creates it for you.  It's the future people.

Aiko and Auntie Hannah dancing to music.

If you get a chance, just go walk down 25th Street.  It's beautiful.  Plus, every Saturday there is a huge Farmer's Market.

One of my favorite pizza places.  They even have Vegan choices.

A few more Yarn Bomb favorites!

Also, I was taking this awkward, shameless selfie and found it quite hilarious.  It kind of reminded me of those Native American paintings with a girl that's surrounded by the moon or wolf. . . except mine is more awesome because it appears I'm emerging out of a nice knit sweater.

I'm cool like that.

When the parade. . .

Summer!  I feel alive again.  There is always so much to see and do.  Like this Car Show on Historic 25th Street.  I'm not car guru, but these are pretty awesome.  I do love the old styles.  Plus, you can tell they are solid and so many colors.  Aiko especially loved weaving in and out through the crowds. It's funny to see people's expressions.  I forget how tiny she is with her giant toddler personality.

Ooooooo, Barracuda!

This old FJ Cruiser to the left was just like the one my dad had when I was baby.  It's awesome, I know.

Who can resist the old VW Beetles?

Little person in a giant world.

how do you enjoy being a woman a leisure?

i enjoy it quite a bit.  i've said it before and i'll say it again.  i love being a stay at home mom.  i can be as hermit like as i want and do what i want...until that baby calls of course.  i craft, i read, i take naps, cook, chores, lay out on my deck, go for walks.  i still say this is the life.  with one baby who naps quite often i have to keep myself entertained.  i'll admit as aiko is the only child, i'm spoiled...plus she is at a super fun stage.  boxes keep her entertained for pete's sake. (look at that belly)

luckily though, i do have a friend that reminds me that it's good to be part of a community and do something noteworthy while my baby sleeps.  therefore, she takes me along to Local First Ogden Meetings and soon to
the Ogden Arts Festival Committee meetings.

alicia's a pretty smooth talker (i mean this in the best way) and a go-getter.  such a good example for me.  so instead of lazily spending my afternoons basking in the sun, i've found myself creating flyers, documents and brainstorming for Local First.   alicia is also the one who got me involved with Indie Ogden, writing articles about the city.  she gave me the tour of 25th street, and knows all the local shop owners. so we get together, plan and brainstorm.  really, it's good for the brain and the heart.

part three of "what did we didn't do this weekend?"

after hurrying home from the obon festival, farmer's market, delicious pizza, and cutting up four watermelon's for the mama, i still REALLY wanted to go to the Moulin Rouge sing-along at Good Company Theatre.

i'm so glad we did, because as we were walking up the stairs to the theatre i saw this.

isn't she lovely?

you guys, this wasn't like any other movie i've been too.  we received a goodie bag (who doesn't love goodie bags!) filled with confetti, a giant diamond ring (diamonds are a girls best friend!) a bloody tissue (so sad) and poppers!

we sang and we sang loud!  there was a one man can-can dancer (nick), confetti was thrown at the happy moments, poppers popped at the electric moments, feet were stomped, and there were swoons.  oh, there were swoons! it was a partaaay!  the acoustics were excellent and we even toasted with some absinthe!

it. was. so. much. fun.

if we would have known it was okay to dress up...magical things would have happened.  don't be sad, Good Company Theatre will have another sing-a-long in two weeks!

be sure to check out the rest of their shows in july!

this saturday is the one man show!

hope to see you all there!
