Yard Sale and a Shpadoinkle Day

I've been trying to simplify my life lately.  I am not a clean person by nature.  As a result I've banished myself from thrifting.
It's been hard.
I only go to the thrift shop to donate.  Last week I decided that I needed to go yard saling. I hadn't been all summer and I figured it would be okay to go once this summer.  Let me tell you, it was just as amazing as I hoped it would be!

One of our last stops was such a winner I could hardly contain my excitement!  While my sister went to lay under a tree I was finding all sorts of treasures!  I found these giant-little people that were only quarter each!

Then these amazing wooden puzzles.

A wooden rocking chair kit for only ten bucks. A Tupperware ball thing that I've been wanting to buy forever, (fifty cents) and this adorable Popsicle brand sweater for the kidlets!!

Thennnnnn I found a box of Duplos Legos!! The same train set I grew up with!  Ahhhhh!  I'm all excited about it all over again!

I mean, how awesome is this?  I bought EVERYTHING they owned as far as little people and Legos.  This is why yard saling is so dangerous.

These little guys happened to be a recent favorite of Aiko's. Her little cousin had the exact set and she was slightly obsessed.

This sweater is so rad I can't believe it.  Both my kids will be wearing it!!

Aiko could totally tell how excited I was about it all.  I was going to save some of it for her birthday or something, but I needed her to have it.

She's been playing with all her new toys for hours.   See what I mean about the Little People being Giant Little People?

She picks them up one by one and then place them one by one, over and over...

And over.

I'm starting to understand how other Mamas say how much fun it is to buy for their kids instead of themselves.  I never thought I'd get to that point, especially over toys, because it warms my heart like a baked potato!  See this video on Youtube.

Have you ever seen such a perfect little chair for a tiny 17 month old mullet baby?

I daresay not.  She loved it too.  Once she realized she could sit like a big person she was quite pleased with herself.  Once she realized that she could stand on it everything got oh-so-much-better.  She has no fear of climbing.  She climbs on her toys to stand taller.  I know how she feels.  It's tough being short.
Plus, this girl is quite flexible.  When it's time to get in the bathtub she takes her foot and places it on top of the tub rim.  Which, is just below her shoulder.  Now, I know that's not super tall, her being a whole 26 or so inches, but still, I can't do that.

We've been quite vintage as of late.  Plus, that mullet seems to just help the outfit. I thrifted this shirt and pants for little brother, but then, I realized that they would fit her.  It was too hilarious not to put her it.  She did have a headband on that made her look girly.  Promise.

Hearts and Belly

Hope you all have a good heart day! I got a wild hair and decided that Aiko needed a Valentine's Day shirt, complete with heart elbow patches and a headband.  I thrifted the shirt with the intention of doing some embellishment and Valentine's Day seemed worthy.

I hope you all get the reference on her shirt.

Often times, the husband and I just want to get out of the house, but we're too cheap to pay for things.  So we thrift.  I've gotten better over the years.  I don't buy everything I see, like I used too.  I used to think I should just buy it because.  I feel I've almost perfected my thrifting skills.  I found these lovely ceramic bowls for 10 bucks for six of them.

Plus the stack inside each other and match my kitchen ever so nicely.  Like here.

Good Bye Boobie Lights!!

I found this beauty over a year ago and had it sitting my shelf.  I suddenly realized that it should just go up in the hallway.  I tried to do it myself, but unless I pulled out the super heavy ladder I wasn't going to make it up there.

Found three of these at the thrift shop for $3.99 a piece.  I liked how they weren't your tradition light covers.  I also have a thing for glass and textured glass.  Plus, I really do hate the frosted glass boobie lights.

Before....After!

Sometime, I'm going to try and actually take a picture during the day.  So much more fun!

When we moved in, most of the lights didn't actually have light fixtures, so we've slowly been adding and moving them around when we find the right ones at the thrift shop.
