Skating, Old School

Cedar City just got a new addition.

A Skate Rink.

In the words of our nephew Logan.

"What is a roller skate?"

Sigh.

I shouldn't feel this old.

No one should have to explain a roller skate to anyone.

It just isn't right I tell you.

As you can tell we were all a little wobbly.

Tyler's armpits were a little tired...it looks rough.

Yes, I have miniature feet. And lack the necessary skills to roller skate well with them.

I put on the skates, literally, 5 seconds later I was flat on my back.

Gena was showing off her mad skills.

She turned!

It was amazing.

Logan and I were doing well.

and then we weren't.

Conquering the laces is sometimes tough.

Apparnetly, Gena and Steve spent quite a bit of time as kids at the roller rink...derek too.

We made some New Year's Hats.

Which were basically princess hats.

We celebrated New Years at 10.

Sadly, we didn't even stay up to midnight.

by we, I mean I.

Derek woke me up at midnight to kiss me.

Then i slept.

Hannah, Derek and i went for dinner in Salt Lake to see Dad, and we found ourselves with a little time. Derek is not in these photos because *sigh* he was activated that iPhone for me.  

We went to the Gateway in Salt lake.  Anthropologie is probably one of my favorite stores, though, I've never purchased anything there.   I was trying to create a sophisticated look here. Probably failed. Yup. but i really liked this chair...if i were a welder, so help me.

Ummm, is this not the coolest thing in the world?  After closer inspection to this $89 beauty, I saw that someone had basically super glued the crystals on. Just something to think about later.  Because I have crystals...that I could super glue on a bracelet. I just need to find a cheaper bracelet.

One of my next shops to look and never purchase. Their clearance section is awesome and very messy.

It's finally happened.
I've lost my phone so many times it's ridiculous, but I could always find it.
Now, I think it's officially gone.
Or it's been over a week and it didn't pop up.
I realized it might be the end so then I went to get a new phone.
Does anyone else think it is absolutely insane how expensive phone and phone plans are?
The non-Touch screen phones are cheap, while the "easy-to-use" are not cheap at all.
I say world, what is happening.

So, I am terribly sad to say, (because it goes against everything I stand for and fight against.) ...

I now own an iPhone.

Mind you, it is my husband's old one and since we didn't buy a new phone I don't have to start a new contract. So if that little orange phone of mine ever shows up again...

You wouldn't believe how long it takes to drive 3 miles in a residential neighborhood. . . so I wouldn't miss taking a picture of this.

We're going to have a party...not sure when.

Carousals, lights and knights

So, we spent 3 days in Disneyland...which I'll admit, is quite a amazing in itself.

We were able to do the rides we wouldn't normally do. Like the carousel. 

Watch all the little shows we never have time to see.  It's a Small World at Christmas is SOOO much better. The old song is replaced with Christmas words.

Wander through all parts of the castle.

Go multiple times on Screamin for pictures sake.

Take pictures of the funny bathrooms signs.

And go to all the bathrooms in the park.

Watch Captain EO. 

(Which if anything, it was a nice place to nap.  Terribly painful movie.)

Take awkward photos with Hali and my Uncle Sam and Aunt Patty's House.

Take multiple photos of the castle. 

Ride the Teacups.

Possessed eye photos are a must.

Tired of these posts yet?

Thunder Mountain, might just be one of the best little thrillers out there.

So many Strollers!! It's an event in itself.

Disneyland is so efficient. Stroller parking organization is a must.

We went onto the Pirates Lair...which for some reason, I've never been on.

I've never understood why Star Wars is on the Disneyland premises, but, I do think this shirt fits me.

Every time we get on Autopia, it gets stuck...and we end up walking out of the ride, instead of rolling in. I'm afraid, this is a thumbs down for me.

1. Find all the lights possible.

2. Tie dogs to the roots.

3. Wrap lights around you.

4. Find many extension cords.

5. Be prepared for people to drive slowly by and take pictures of your backside.

6. Find Harmony in this picture.

7. Make sure to hold a globe and take a photo.

8. Take kiss photo.

10. Make absolutely certain that as people drive by they think "boy, sure looks like Christmas barfed there."

11. Make sure to get just good photo with possessed eyes.

I would have to say, that it's not an exaggeration that almost every pine in the neighborhood is down. Just today I counted 22 on my way to work, and that's just in my neighborhood. It seemed as I drove further in there wasn't much damage. You can drive down the street and it's EVERY OTHER HOUSE with a tree uprooted. Some trees are lying on the houses, fences, or in the yard. That doesn't even count how every single fence has a gaping hole in it or no fence at all. Power has been flickering on and off and shingles are gone.

I drove by the church park, and there were 13 Big Pines on their side. It was like a graveyard. Really does break your heart. The devastation in just our little neighborhood seems so extreme, I can't even imagine what a real hurricane is like.

I hear Centerville is a complete mess and a state emergency area, some cities don't have any power and could be off up to 4 days.

It's just CRAZY.

I almost cried when I saw our tree.

Rest in Peace.

Often times, my husband does not appreciate my wardrobe. 

Who are we joking...All the time. 

But I know, somewhere deep down inside...he loves it.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have married.

I feel my style has gotten a little more refined over the years.

HAHA. 

So, today, he was commenting how my outfit today was super weird. 

Which... I'll admit, my hair was a MESS, so as doo rag will do. 

But I said, "I bet if I walked into the mall, somebody would totally comment on how cute it was. "

(because, this has happened on multiple occasions, where I go out in public in an outfit that just makes him cringe, but inevitably, someone always comments how cute it is.  Complete Strangers mind you.)

So he says "I bet if I were to take your photo and send it to your sisters, they would say it was weird."

Game ON. 

Hali immediatly calls and says how CUTE it is. (She did say my hair thing was weird, but as I said, it was unruly) 

Still waiting on the status of Hannah. (Also commented on my hair.)

Overall.

 I feel I win.

Except for this outfit may be a little weird.

My friend, Michelle has a little girl named Naomi.

Naomi is a beautiful 4 year girl with super bouncy curls, who I really don't get to see much, since she lives in Mexico and is usually in bed when Michelle and I are out playing.

Nonetheless, I was at their house the other night.

Naomi was staring at me and said,

"You look like Mulan."

"Really?!" I say, I'm thinking that it's because of my short hair.

"How Come?"

"You have the same eyes." Naomi says.

It seems like forever since I really sat down and wrote a blog. We've been super busy! My little Etsy shop is getting busier (hooray!)

Halloween came and went, with me being solo.

Derek got "sick" the night of our Halloween party (he really did.) The Queen of hearts and Michelle (she's the we can do it lady! Can't actually remember what she is called) and I were the single ladies of the night! Derek and I were going to go as a Mail Order Bride and the Nerd that bought one. . .

So instead I decided to dress up as the Nerd and a male.

So much more comfy!

I got to be in both photos...since I was a male as well.

Went to Wally World they other day. 

I found this tote. 

It was red-orange.

I bought it. 

I've been in love with this color for, hmmmm, forever. 

Sign says "don't forget lid."

Got it.

When I'm at home, The Husband discovers the lid doesn't match. 

Stupid lids. 

We are back at Wally World. 

I only bring the lid, because really, why would I bring the whole tote?

Lady at the front of Wally World has a worried look. 

Tells me to go promptly to customer service. 

I wait in line. 

Waiting. 

Get up there, next lady looks at me crazy.

"I just want to change the lid, I got the wrong size."

(what i'm really thinking of saying is yes, 

i stole only the lid, because it was red-orange.)

Lady says 

"Okay, go get it and bring it back here."

Search, Searching...

No Red-Orange lids.

Curses.

Grab a gray lid. 

Even though I can't stand it. 

Take it to second lady in the customer service

but I am waiting in line first.

Waiting. 

Third customer service lady says

"She made you wait in line?"

I shrug.

Walk by the first lady. 

I tote the gray tote lid out to my car to the waiting Kona. 

Go back inside Wally World.

Find Husband. 

Also find red-orange tote lids I the 18 gallon variety. 

Grab red-orange lid.

Go back to customer service.

third lady has a long line. 

I don't wait. 

"Mammm? I found the red-orange lid, can I trade yet again.?"

third lady stares at me.

I hand her the red-orange lid.

Leave line.

Bypass first lady again.

Fukushima Family Reunion in Vegas as by Hannah

Went to Vegas this weekend for a family reunion. Yes, a FAMILY reunion. In Las Vegas. Sin City. Yes. Us. A bunch of Mormons. Thing is, my mom and her sisters are the only LDS ones on this side of the family. So, it would make sense that Vegas sounds fun for everyone else. Anyway, highlights include:

My cousins renting a top floor, corner suite at Mandalay Bay.

My sisters, brother-in-law and I crashing said suite. Which basically amounts to eating their peanuts, drinking their water, and using their showers. They also told us to do those things...soooo, it wasn't really crashing, but we had to do something Vegas-esque, right?

"Sober fun!"

Witnessing a scary guy kick and punch the crap out of a wimpy guy in the middle of an intersection. It went down like this: Wimpy Guy cuts off Scary Guy with his mini-van on The Strip. They yell at each other out their windows. Wimpy Guy throws a drink at Scary Guy's car. Big mistake. Scary Guy gets out of car and takes off his shirt. He is muscly. Poor Wimpy Guy. Wimpy Guy gets in Scary Suy's face. Bigger mistake. Scary Guy punches Wimpy Guy's face, throws him to the ground and proceeds to punch him in the head and kick him everywhere else. Light turns green. Scary Guy hops in car and speeds away...shirtless. Meanwhile, Wimpy Guy, bleeding, staggers back to van and tries to pretend it's no big deal. We gawk, drive on and talk about it for the next 10 minutes.

A stray drunk who followed out of a hotel elevator and invited himself into the suite. He proceeded to talk loudly, play with one of the babies, wandered around and check out the suite, all before anyone could realize he didn't belong (not Japanese).

80 mph speed limit in central Utah.

The buffet. Buffets only ever seem like a good idea before you eat them. After, you simply want to die and lapse into a food coma.

Riding the New York, New York roller coaster and being totally unimpressed.

M&M Factory. Stupid. It's a 4-floor building dedicated solely to a candy.

Palmer Family Reunion

So the Husband's family pretty much settled Cedar City.

Which means, they pretty much are related to everyone. Which was a bonus for me when I worked as a waitress in town.

I'd just throw around the Walker name and the tips would just keep rolling in!

Anyways, Carol's family, The Palmers have some pretty big family reunions. This year they rented the SUU Cabin up Cedar Canyon. It was lots of fun! We tried out some Welsh traditions.

Which Palmer reunions are a little different from what I'm used too..mine usually involve gambling in some shape or form...more to come on that.

We went hiking.

this is a Sego Lily, the state flower.

We played Bocce Ball

We made our own rolls into shapes.

Some turned out better than others.

I realize what this looks like, but really it wasn't meant to be.

So I thought a necklace would be best.

We released balloons into the atmosphere and said "Huzzah" multiple times.

The name and purpose eludes me at the moment but I liked it.

So many cute little cousins to see.

We had a talent show.

This is Caleb and his assistant Logan.

And last but not least

Going on a Bear Hunt with the infamous Tom Walker.

Such fun traditions.

One of my favorite things on this trip was playing Sardines!

I hadn't played in years.

The SUU Cabin has a loft room with 10 single beds, 4 bedrooms, a large cafeteria area, tons of closets, tables, outside decking, sheds, picnic areas, volleyball nets, covered patio areas, which equals tons of hiding places!

Imagine 20 people hiding and trying to squish all in the same area. It was fantastic.

Apparently, these are Bristlecone Pine Trees. They really are loverly.

Derek describes the cones as "Fluffy Squirrel Tails"

He was right.

This was the picture he took...right after I dropped the camera on the asphalt.

It's a good thing I had my glasses on so you couldn't see my "So very sorry eyes."

It was a beautiful day.

This stump was pretty impressively big.

This is the ice cave, mind you this picture was taken just last week.

The smoke in this picture is my breath.

Ice Cave actually had ice in it.

Bad Dreams

early this morning i could here derek kind of yelling in his sleep (as much as derek yells)

he's usually completely still and quiet while sleeping.

so like a good wife i rolled over, snuggled him and asked if he was okay.

his response:

I had a bad dream, a grizzley bear was biting my pinky

The first day we got The Kona.

She was only 5 weeks. So cute and sweet.

Couple months later.

Cesar Milan would be so disappointed to see this.

Nobody really cared for The Kona.

Including me. I didn't really like her. Until she got out of her puppy stage. 2 Years later.

She looked cute...

Kona only chewed one of my shoes and that was the last one.

After that, it was all about the plunger handle.

Kona always got in messes in the neighbors.

This is around 2 years.

She's never been one for personal space.

And she's a pleasantly plump lap dog.

Always included. Around 3 years.

It was a brutal weekend.

We went camping, things didn't go completely as planned or not planned at all.

I was SOOO tired, and the siblings wouldn't let me go to bed, so I pulled out the tarp, and laid down by the Kona....on the ground.

Seems when all my siblings get together (plus my husband), they think it's okay to tease their big-little-sister.

But don't worry, I have my ways.

Great things come in small packages.

It's funny how people think that Labs don't swim.

Kona will swim for hours if we let her.

Dear owner of cat that may be dead soon

The Kona does not appreciate being taunted by your cat.
You see, it's not cool that it sits on the window ledge right in front of The Kona's main window. Nope.
It's also not cool that your cat sits in front of our mailbox either.

Oh, and The Kona does not like being able to see the cat from the basement window in the window well.

It's very uncool that this happens mainly at midnight. The Mama also does not appreciate being woken up multiple times because your cat is taunting The Kona.

Maybe it's just a strange strange love. Either way, next time dear owner of cat that may be dead soon, next time, I will let the Kona out.
